Nutrient Dynamics Assessment of Coarse Wood Debris Subjected to Successional Decay Levels of Three Forests Types in Northeast, China

Coarse wood debris (CWD) plays a critical role in forest productivity, nutrient cycling, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, shapes the pool ecosystem. However, elemental composition of CWD varies among different types decay classes for same dominant tree species (Pinus koraiensis, PK). We compared across (Picea koraiensis-Abies nephrolepis-Pinus koraiensis (PAPF), Betula costata-Pinus (BPF), Tilia amurensis-Pinus (TPF)), considering four decay. Results showed that N, P, Mg, Mn, Na, Zn, S, Al, Fe concentrations almost totally increased with level all three types, except K B Picea (PAPF). Similarly, maximum B, K, C, Mn were observed (BPF) under varying classes, but their S found (PAPF) forest(TPF), respectively. Only C content did not significantly differ types. The C:N ratio decreased increasing levels rates related to N concentration These results suggest are key factors affecting its decomposition. variation here underscores complexity nutrients stored forested ecosystems.
